The EXR1601 Click-In Rooftop Tent Adapter Plates are a heavy-duty, quick-release mounting solution designed specifically for 1–3 person rooftop tents used with EXR click-in crossbars. These plates bolt directly to the aluminum mounting rails on the underside of a rooftop tent and allow the entire tent to click in and out of the roof rack in seconds—without tools.
This system eliminates the need to unbolt tents for removal, making it practical to install a rooftop tent only when needed and remove it just as easily for daily driving, storage, or seasonal use.
Universal Click-In Compatibility
EXR1601 adapter plates engage the center square click-in holes on EXR click-in crossbars. These center holes are consistent across all EXR click-in bars, meaning:
- No special alignment is required
- Works with both standard and offset EXR crossbars
- No vehicle-specific spacing adjustments are needed
Each crossbar requires two adapter plates.
Selecting the Correct Quantity
- 4-Pack: Two crossbars (common on soft-top setups)
- 6-Pack: Three crossbars
- 8-Pack: Four crossbars
Only the front and rear crossbars are bolted to the tent (four plates total). Any middle crossbar plates remain unattached and function as weight-distribution supports.
Quick-Release Removal & the “Ready Position”
To remove the tent, simply press the push pins on the four bolted plates and lift upward. The tent can be raised approximately 1 inch until the pins re-engage and rest on top of the crossbars—this is EXR’s unique Ready Position.
- Approximately 0.25 in of the adapter plate remains interlocked in the crossbar
- Provides secure staging and perfect alignment
- Ideal for lift assists or two-person removal
Re-installing the tent is just as simple: lower the tent vertically into the square holes, allow it to rest on the pins, then press each pin fully until it clicks. All four pins must be visibly and audibly engaged before driving.
